You will never miss waves with nami.
Keeping track of forecasts
for finding the perfect day
for surfing is no easy task.
Nami is here to help users with everything related to surfing life.

About the project
Finding a day with conditions that are right for a specific activity at sea can be a pretty frustrating business that requires time from the user to cross-reference data from several different forecasting engines.
User Research
the main problem that arises from users is that to know if the forecast is going to be suitable for a specific activity they need to visit several sites and cross-reference information.
I also found that the thing that prevents most of the surfing from going to surf is that most of the spots are very crowded by other surfers so they do not even try.

User Personas

Aviv, Wave surfer
26, Herzliya
“It depresses me that to be confident in the forecast I have to visit several different sites that each provide me with different information.”
Pain points:
Aviv does not want to waste time looking around different forecast websites.
It depresses her that sometimes the forecast miss and she finds herself standing in front of a flat sea.
She struggles to find photographers that take photos of the surfers at the beach and check with them if she has some pictures.

Elad, Wave surfer, and kite surfer
37, Tel Aviv
“Sometimes I get so sucked into the routine that I forget that I like to surf and then the surfboard gathering dust in the house for a few months.”
Pain points:
Elad misses surf days because he doesn't check the forecast frequently
Elad has multiple water sports hobbies so he needs to check the forecast for every activity which frustrates him.
If someone motivates him, he will go surfing more often.

Nami Forecast
Nami's forecast is produced by collecting data from the flood forecasting engines in the field to create the most accurate estimates forecast.
As part of the problems that arose in the study, I chose to include the level of crowded of surfers in spots in the app forecast in order to provide the user more information about his upcoming surfing session.

Nami Spot
A platform that connects surfers and photographers and provides the app with a business model.
In the study, I realized that one of the needs of many surfers is that there is no good platform to connect photographers and surfers to allow them to purchase photos.
